Visualising Task

My Reflection:
In room 22 my reading group was reading a book called The Evil Drinking Fountain.  For this book we had to do a visualising task we had to pick our favorite part of the text and draw a picture about the text you chose, then you have to write a shot summary about the drawing.

WALT visualise what we read.
  • Pick a part of the text that you found interesting.
  • Draw what you visualise in your mind when you read that part. You may use a variety of illustration techniques like sketching, symbols or art that help put your thoughts onto paper.
  • Include detail and colour.
  • Label your drawing.
  • Write a summary about your illustration. Include who, what, when, where and why. (6-10 sentences)

First Aid WorkShop

My Reflection:
In Room 22 we had this man come in from St Johns, and he was talking to us about what we already knew before we started doing stuff in pairs.  First we talked about what happens when you have an asthma attack and you don't have your inhaler.  After awhile of talking we got into groups of two and doing this thing where your buddy is laying down on the ground, she/he is not responding, breathing or moving and you have to check for Danger, Response, Send For Help, Airway, Breathing, Commence CPR, Defibrillation.  I would like to do this kind of activity again because it would teach me how to look after someone from my family if something bad happened to them like they weren't breathing ect.

Speech Writing

My Reflection:
In Room 22 we have been writing speeches. This year we had to write a persuasive speech. The topic I chose was why more people should do athletics. In my speech we had to include an Introduction, 3 Reasons and a Conclusion. What I found tricky was finding a topic because there are so many good topics out there and I couldn't choose, and I also found it a bit hard to write my speech, but when I did have my speech together I was confident when it was time to present my speech to the class. I would like to continue to write more speeches because each time I do another speech I learn how to improve my writing so I can do another speech but better than all of the ones I have previously done.

Find Fractions Of Shapes And Sets

My Reflection:
In Room 22 we have been learning to use patterns to find fractions of shapes and sets. The types of fractions we have been learning about are improper fractions, proper fractions and many more. I found it difficult to do some of the tricky problems but I got used to it when we were getting threw the problems. In this piece of evidence we had to highlight the number of the fraction E.G 2/5 so you would have to highlight the fraction it is telling you to do. I would like to do this activity maybe again later in the year so I can get harder questions so I can get to know my fractions better in the future.

Room 22 Punctuation Evidence

My Reflection:
In Room 22 we have been learning different types of punctuation and where to put them.  I enjoyed this activity because it helps me with the different types of punctuation and where to put them.  I would like to do this activity again because with people in my class that are not sure about what punctuation marks to use and where to put them it would make them more confident.

My Reflection:
In Room 22 we have been learning to expand decimal numbers. I enjoyed this activity because I was not quite sure on how to expand decimal numbers but now I am more confident.  I would like to this activity again because it will help me to learn a lot more about expanding decimal numbers.

Using Commas Correctly

My Reflection:
In Room 22, we have been learning about commas. We learnt when to use them and where to put them. I enjoyed doing this comma learning because I learnt more about commas then I already did. I think that I am understanding the correct ways to use commas. I am comfortable to use commas often in my writing.

Popplet - Powhiri

My Reflection:
We went on popplet and brainstormed ideas about a recent powhiri. The best thing about using popplet is getting to use it again because I used it last year. I felt really happy when I got to do another popplet! popplet is good because it helps you to get more ideas.

Resilience Slideshow

My Reflection:
In my classroom we have been learning about our 3 R values Respect, Resilience and Responsibility.  We got split into groups and we had to make a Doc or a Slideshow I choose to do a slideshow with my group.  I enjoyed doing this because it tells you what the word means and what you can do to show it.  I would like to do something else similar to this because I enjoyed learning more stuff about the word resilience.

Korowai Slideshow

My Reflection:
I have been learning about the different types of korowai's.  For this activity we needed to complete 13 slides, we had to read an artical that was based on korowai and after we read it we had to complete sentences that asked questions like, What do you need clarified or What did you find interesting.  I found this easy because it was a really good activity because it helps you to learn more about the different types of korowai if you didn't know much about them.  I would want to do something more similar to this because it was really fun and easy to do.
